The River Walk Cruise was wonderful. It's fun and you can decide what you want to go back and see. We arrived just before dusk so started with some daylight and ended with the beautiful evening lights. The guided narration was interesting. You get so much more out of a visit to the city when you get the local history and context of what you are seeing. As for the bus tour, which we took the following day, it gave us a perspective of the city that we wouldn't get driving our own car, but there honestly isn't much to San Antonio except for the downtown area. Regardless, I always find it helpful to take a bus tour to start just so I get the lay of the land. There is so much construction going on in San Antonio that most of what I remember was vacant lots and construction sites. We started our tour at the Alamo and got off only once, at Pearl, before resuming our tour. Because of road or other construction, there were a lot of detours around what we were supposed to see. The driver did warn us that buses were running every 30 minutes, not 20 minutes, that day, which was very helpful because we knew exactly when to be back at our drop-off point and the timing was perfect. So, even though the bus tour wasn't that special, it was still worth it and the overall experience was great.
