When you book your tour, you are unwittingly playing a game of Russian roulette, boat edition. My family and I played and lost.
Not all boats in the fleet are of the same quality. I wish I had known this when I made my reservation.
If you expect a large-ish boat with an open air deck/benches, and an informative tour (like you see in their ads) – you may get it. But you may not.
You may get what my family and I got.
You may get a much smaller, very 70s feeling boat where your options are either;
1. 1st level - Sit/stand on bottom level (ground level) and strain your eyes through clouded glass (It’s hard to really take in the sights that low to the ground).
2. 2nd level - Sit down at large round tables with white tablecloths as though you were on a dinner cruise (even though you’re not) and hope you get a window seat (clouded glass included).
3. 1st level – there is a small area in the front of the boat where they let you go outside. You can see! Unfortunately, you can’t hear. The speaker out there is not up to the task, and as much as we asked, the very friendly and apologetic staff informed us that the volume didn’t go any higher.
So, if you lose the game like we did, your choices are; 1. Hear, but not see very well or, 2. See, but hear nothing.
Our family was upset, bored, and felt we paid for a service we did not receive.
We got off the boat halfway through the tour (they make a pit stop halfway through if you book the 2 hour tour).
They refused to refund us the first half of the tour.
Will never use them again.
Do yourself a favor, don’t pay for a service whose quality is a gamble.
