This whale-watching voyage was everything promised and more. First mate Fathom Neft was very informative and entertaining. My wife and I kept saying how nice it will be to return with grandchildren and children. The 4-hour trip turned into 5 hours, as Captain Troy hurried to catch sight of a pod of orcas. Yes, orcas! We thank him for taking the time. Fathom said it was the first time in 4 of her 10 years sailing that she had seen them. She explained much about the ocean and the migration habits of whales seen on other trips, which made us more determined than ever to go again. She explained the history of the ship (first America's Cup replica), which is large enough to allow standing at the rail (as I was thrilled to do) or to just sit and watch the waves. Because of the orcas, other whales and dolphins were scarce; but that just added to the special adventure we had. No seasickness. Snacks (water, sodas and chips) were nice, although many of the 30-some people on this trip brought lunches. Fathom said all ages are welcome (I am 74), even babies in strollers. My only regret was that the winds weren't high enough to allow using only sails, but my wife was happy with the engine help along with the gentle breeze filling the sails. The whole crew of the America was very friendly. We go to San Diego a couple of times a year. We will include a Next Level Sailing adventure each time.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I am so glad to hear you and your wife had a wonderful time and enjoyed the information I was able to share. We can't wait to have you aboard again with your children and grandchildren! It is always such an honor to have guests come back with their family. Hopefully the winds will be stronger next time you come with us so we can get some sailing in. Thanks again for your review, we really appreciate it!
