The ship is absolutely beautiful, immaculately kept, and a very smooth ride (we only had one person get seasick, and I was surprised at that). The snacks and ample water and soda were very nice. More important, the owners and staff are wonderful to be with and very attentive to your needs. They were constantly educating us, and the conversations were excellent. We only saw one whale on our cruise, and it was a humpback. We know that we came during the offseason for whale watching, so we understand that sightings can be limited at this time. I have been on one other whale watching cruise in the past, in Canada, but with a smaller boat. Based on that limited experience, the only thing that I felt was a liability to such a big vessel (this time) is that they cannot maneuver so readily to keep pursuing a sighting. When you are on a smaller, more agile boat, it seems like you can potentially follow a whale for a bit as you can turn the boat more readily (this seemed to be the case with my prior experience, anyway, and we got very close to the whale we saw that day). In our case, the whale surfaced on the left side of the boat, a ways out, and then appeared on the right side of the boat, a bit closer. It would have been nice to try and track it to perhaps see it surface one more time. But we were already a bit behind schedule as we had to travel further to see a whale, and such a large ship cannot turn so readily. I may also know very little about what I am talking about--I am not an expert. We were NOT disappointed with the experience. It was indeed an excellent voyage and my teenagers really enjoyed it. One real plus, compared to my prior whale watching experience, is that we were not packed like sardines into the boat. We had a lot of room to mill about and to congregate on the side of the boat where the whale appeared. We had a place that consistently served as our seats for the trip. It was fun to see the sails go up! It is important that you layer as it is cooler out on the ocean! They also handed out blankets when passengers needed them.

Thank you so much for your recommendation! We are thrilled that you and your teenagers had a wonderful time. We also appreciate your feedback and detailed review. Thank you for your comparison to your previous whale watching experience as well. As you can imagine, every day on the water is different. Every whale is also different. Sometimes there are multiple animals, sometimes the whales are more friendly than other days, sometimes the wind and waves allow for more agile movements. We have had days where whales rub their flukes (tail) on the boat because they are curious, making them exceptionally close for passengers. It all just depends on the day. We can't wait to see you next time you are in town for another fantastic experience on the water. Thank you so much!
