We've done a few of these before and they've usually been excellent, but this was not our favourite. Firstly, we thought we were doing Chinatown and Italian cuisine as well as Mexican, but neither of the first two were featured. Secondly, it was a huge amount of walking, with a lot of talk about culture and architecture, which was interesting, but less about food. The food we did get wasn't brilliant. First was a piece of sourdough, followed by a burrito and nachos, then another piece of bread with frosting and finally a taco (tasty!) and a cup of hot sipping chocolate. I'm always generous with my ratings but this was barely worthy of 2 stars.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Simon. We’re saddened to hear that our San Francisco food tour didn’t meet your expectations, especially since you’ve enjoyed similar tours in the past.
Our tour is designed to highlight the diverse culinary influences of the city, with a special focus on its iconic dishes. The selection includes San Francisco’s famous sourdough, a taste of its strong Mexican heritage, and a sweet treat to round out the experience. While we don’t feature Chinatown or Italian cuisine on this particular tour, we strive to provide an engaging mix of food, history, and culture that many guests appreciate.
We understand that walking is a key part of any city food tour, and we do our best to balance movement with food stops to create an enjoyable flow. Many guests enjoy the blend of food and storytelling, but we recognize that preferences vary. Your input is valuable, and we’ll certainly take it into account as we continue refining our tours.
We hope you’ll give Secret Food Tours another try in the future—perhaps in one of our other locations, where we might better match your expectations.
