This is hands-down the best, most informative and well-researched tour Salem has to offer. It was the highlight of my visit. I am a huge history nerd and I learned a ton. Thomas has done his research and read the primary sources, and because of this you get a factual view of the city and really great historical nuggets that aren’t well-known, including the amazing history of the naked Quakers, who are my new historical heroes! Thomas is passionate about the history, sharing factual information, and interrupting the biased narratives common to our retellings of this time in history. Not part of the tour per se, but seeing Salem Satanists and other religious groups along the tour share jovial greetings, and interact as friends really provides a model the rest of the country can learn from. Thomas got a friendly greeting from Salem Friends Society (modern day Quakers), Unitarians, Catholics, the Presbyterian church ran out to give Satan the dog a treat and say hi … we might not be the same but this city is modeling that we can still show eachother love, respect, empathy and celebrate diversity as a strength. If you are in the city, you have to do this tour!

Our tour guide Tom (and his little dog too!) was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to his story telling about the history of Salem- minus all the Hocus Pocus. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. I highly recommend!
