Every year on Halloween I go away on vacation, well in 2013 I went to Savannah and went to one of the most beautiful cemeteries I've ever seen Bonaventure ..I also went on a tour with Shannon Scott. He is a top notch guy with mad skills in story telling ...u do not know how he fits all that information in his brain but he does and it's awesome ..I loved the tour and I highly recommend him ..JUST DO THIS TOUR U WONT REGRET IT ... Shannon Scott and his walking tours are legendary in Savannah! The cemetery tours are even better, day or night! His storytelling and knowledge of the area and history is astounding. I grew up in thunderbolt where Bonaventure cemetery is located. I grew up in that cemetery playing and walking among the grave stones. Visiting each one like an old friend. He has back stories that only the locals would know. The way he weaves these threads through with the beauty and mystery of the place itself is phenomenal! I would highly recommend taking his tours as well as watching his DVDs he voiced and created of the Savannah area. Kudos to you Sir for keeping the folk tales, legends and beautiful history alive! Minerva would be proud!

Well few reviews leave me speechless but if there is a golden compliment in the form of one, this would be near the top if not over the top! But yes, I accept! Steve Martin once said comedy is dangerous. I think storytelling is too. You have to go to school as it were, and learn the facts, but its on the storyteller to imbue those facts with the spirit that will inspire. You also have to take risks doing that. I think if I grew up in Savannah, hard to say if I'd be the rebel storyteller. But to me, coming here from the outside in, it was like walking into a toy chest that was in the attic of an old mansion. I've spent countless hours since 1988 dusting off the toys, playing with them, learning about them and in a way, making them viable and playworthy in a new way to lots of different people, locals and otherwise. Savannah can be a harsh judge at times, but rarely do I feel like its not all worth it and your review more than spurs me to travel and play on! Eternal Gratitudes!

My husband and I visited Savannah for the first time this past summer. At first I thought touring a cemetery would be weird, but I would have to say it was one of the highlights of our trip. Shannon Scott is a walking book of knowledge and we got more than our monies worth out of the tour. I would highly recommend you check out Bonaventure Cemetery with Shannon Scott.

Now this is in some sense, the review I hope people will read! Because lots of people think its weird to go tour a cemetery. Yet their so representative of the cities people visit and tour. The people that built them, gave them their legacy as a town or place, are buried in cemeteries. Some of the old materials that many towns have are vanished, yet for those still standing in a cemetery. They're like spiritual phonebooks for the stranger to quickly get their mind around and connect with the town in larger ways. And for Savannah? Cemeteries were the social centers in their day, especially for the religious Victorian. Its the ultimate way to get into the footpath of people before us and I'm so glad that you also chose to come walk the walk and now you can obviously talk the talk and say so much more about Savannah!
