While our guide (Steve) was great and provided lots of interesting information, the overall tour was not, especially considering that I paid $1200 for a family of four. If you have a car, this tour could very easily be done on your own. The tour basically has 4 stops - at a museum near the Superstition Mountains, at an old Gold Town, at Tortilla Flat and then a Dolly boat ride. The museum was interesting as was the Gold Town. Tortilla Flats is just a few buildings and the Dolly boat ride was slow, packed and AC barely worked, though the views were beautiful. Of all the tours we took in AZ, this was by far the most boring. While Steve was an excellent guide, I feel like all the stops were obvious and I could have driven this tour myself. Considering the insane $1200 price tag, I was expecting something a bit more special.

Hello Boris,
We appreciate your compliments on Steve as your private tour guide. We are disappointed to learn that you did not find the Apache Trail as enjoyable as many of our guests do. While it is true you can drive the Apache Trail on your own, we hope you saw the value in having a private tour guide narrate what you were seeing and contribute to educational aspect of this historic region. We hope you will tour with us in the future to some other locations as we are proud of our guides and vehicles as well as variety of tour options.
Thank you,
Rachel
