My husband and I took the Road to Hana luxury tour with our two boys, ages 9 and 11. We booked a small group tour but it ended up being just the four of us! Our guide was Malissa who was the perfect guide to fit right into our family for the day. She took the time to get to know us and find many shared interests. Most importantly she shared her love of the Island of Maui with us, from the beautiful beaches, shops, farms, local restaurants (breakfast and lunch), waterfalls and lush vegetation to stories of Hawaii’s rich history and culture. We made many stops along the way, even if it was just to see a beautiful lookout or rainbow tree, all at which Malissa took family photos for us. We had a magnificent and fun filled day and are so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend the time on Maui. My 11 year old son told me at the end of the day that he had been unsure about going on the excursion and thought it would be boring, but was so surprised at how much fun he had.

My family and I were on our family vacation in Maui July 2023. The Road to Hana was one of our, and one of the best, excursions we signed up for. Surfer Sue was our guide and she was absolutely amazing, (rain and shine). She is exceptionally knowledgeable of all things Hawaii and it's origins. She was so accommodating to my 10 year old who was turning 11 that week as he was the only youthful on our small van tour of 8. He learned about plants, flowers, navigation by wind and stars, various cultures that came together to form the Hawaiian culture, the science behind waterfalls, volcanoes, and more. She encouraged him to fulfill his dream of swimming by/in a waterfall even though the water was cold and it was raining. He "took the plunge" and stated "I am so glad she helped me take the plunge." We all enjoyed seeing the turtles on the way back to the cruise terminal. She pointed out so many things that we were not expecting which was quite the surprise; so educational and entertaining at the same time. We are so appreciative of Sue and her knowledge and skill.
