SMALL GROUP/ SHARED WINE TOUR. This is not your typical wine tour. We offer private access to ultra small production, family wineries, estates and vineyard properties typically not open to the general public. Shared group wine tour is a maximum of 6-7 guests. Taste limited release wines at all private property locations, walk the vineyards and tour barrel rooms often with the owners or winemakers themselves at their private vineyard homes. Perfect for couples or small groups! No crowded commercial wineries or tasting rooms. All seated private area tastings.

Visit all private wineries and vineyard estates not open to the general public. No crowded commercial wineries or tasting rooms. Walk the vineyards and tour wine production facilities and privately and exclusively. All tastings are seated and one-on-one often with winemakers or owners.

Having just done a similar excursion in the Paso Robles area a few days before, we were able to compare the experiences and found ourselves disappointed with this tour. Our group of (2) couples had a good time and our guide Steven was very friendly, knowledgeable and polite throughout our tour. The first stop consisted of wine tasting in a dark, wet and cold warehouse basically right in town without any place to even sit down while tasting. The next stop was the best of the day and was quite an enjoyable experience. The property and its views were beautiful and the very engaging winemaker spent a lot of time with us talking about wine and other farming conducted on her property. She even gave us a walking tour of her farm. Unfortunately there was a delay with Steven returning with our lunches and things got a little drawn out during his absence. The last stop was at a tasting room in a small town, which we found to be a very unremarkable experience, although the winemaker did meet with us and explained each of the many wines we tasted. In fact, we tasted at least 7 or 8 wines in rapid succession, which all ended up blending together in a blur of swirl, sniff, sip, dump, repeat. Sometimes less is better! Oddly, no water was offered during any of the three tastings (although there was plenty in the van in between destinations). The other disappointment was the length of time in transit, with some of the legs being 30-40 minutes long. Again, not a bad experience, but nothing exceptional.

Four friends got together and ventured to Los Olivos for a great wine experience. And we found it with Sustainable Wine Tours. Steve was our driver and overall guide. He picked us up in a really comfortable van. He was so knowledgeable and created a very warm and friendly atmosphere. He was terrific! Really set the mood for the day! Our first stop was Section Wines. We were greeted by Marco. And our small group size allowed for a lot of interesting questions and answers. He told us so much about where he grew up in Italy, and about his family. He was delightful. And the wines amazing! He also had a lot of the original art (created by his friends!) from which he makes his labels. It was exceptional! Really spectacular and something quite unexpected! We also went to Happy Canyon where Sean led our tasting. Such good wine. And the winery connection to polo was quite interesting! The vineyards were stunning. Steve served us incredible sandwiches on a beautiful deck overlooking the vineyards. Then we went to Grassini Family Vineyards - what a beautiful site! We met Dean for our tasting and the wine was great! And he was so personable and interesting. It was fun to hear about his Irish background. All in all it was a perfect day and highly recommended. Ask for Steve! He was great!
