The gallery located at the south end of the High Line. Exterior and interior building design more impressive than the photos suggest. During our visit a lot of space over several floors was devoted to the work of Chinese artists and experimental art post 1989, so there was a limited display of the more traditional artists such as Kandinsky and Jackson Pollack, which was disappointing.
Wasted money on the jump-the-line vouchers as we had to join the main queue to collect our tickets.
Not our best experience in NYC. If your time is short, go to the Met and the MOMA.
Luckily there was no line to skip but a trip to the Guggenheim is well worth it to see some amazing modern art. The building itself is a highlight as you descend the snail-shell shaped galleries and look down from above.
This is the third time we have visited the museum. The first two times the main part of the gallery was closed. Finally this time everything was open. It is a great art museum. The art and architecture are outstanding.
