Rafting
Rafting was great, check in process easy. We had a nice half day on the South Fork of the American River and were out from about 1-515pm, checkin was at 1230. My two kids, ages 8 and 10, really enjoyed it. Bring sunscreen, as we applied twice and maybe should've done a third time (but didn't get burned though it was sunny the whole time). Class II and III rapids, plenty of excitement for the kids. Leonard was our guide and he was fantastic - he's chatty, very technical, and we all felt safe. Bring tips, if you're back safely and had a great time, the guides deserve it. Should definitely bring a visor cap or baseball cap - it'll fit under the safety helmet and gives you shade. Also water shoes since you'll definitely get wet at times, plus you should definitely jump in the water when you can, very refreshing on a hot day! Photographs were taken at two different rapids, and by a third party called Hotshots. The pics are available online the same day - $83 to buy all of them (our group had 82 pics taken), or something like $30 for a single pic! I suggest asking the other parties in your raft (if there are others) to split the cost if they're willing.
