We had such a great experience! My husband and I and two children, ages 9 and 10, loved this spirit walk. Carl, who grew up in the area, was our guide. He pretty much knew everything there is to know about Jerome and had so many interesting stories. Even if you’ve read all there is to read about Jerome, Carl knows more. He kept it PG for the kids but was able to give us insight on how people used to live in this town. He gave the kids some ghost tracking devices that kept them entertained.
Visiting Jerome was more or less an afterthought of our trip. I didn’t book the tour until the day before. We spent most of our vacation hiking in Sedona and visiting the Grand Canyon. Looking back, it was one of our favorite experiences of the whole vacation. We go to towns all the time. We travel a lot. But we rarely get an inside look of the unique history or the lives of its inhabitants. Reading the plaques on the sidewalk is not enough. Reading through a travel book is not enough. Hearing it through Carl’s storytelling was mesmerizing. I can’t stop thinking about that place!
I will definitely add this to your “must-do” list If you are vacationing in Arizona. With or without kids. Super cool experience.
