In a word, I would say terrible. I would not recommend it at all.
I do enjoy the daytime trolly ride, but not the Night of Light. I applaud St. Augustine for coming up with a way to bring in revenue.
The purchase is NOT per person, but for a row of seats. We paid $100 for a row, on line through their website. When we arrive we saw a sign to purchase for $69. Not a good feeling to start off.
Parking is an issue. There is a parking garage at the visitor center. Fee is $15. But there was no more room in the garage when we arrived, so we had to leave. We ended up parking a long ways away and paid twice as much.
While in line to get on the Trolly, there were several intoxicated people. The Trolly workers did nothing to stop these people from boarding.
We ended up have 4 high and drunk people who sat right behind us. They yelled and screamed the whole time. We tried to get off this train because of them. But the trolly didn't stop long enough to get off. There is no way to get a hold of the driver, so we were stuck with these people screaming in our faces for an hour.
Our child sat bend over the whole time with his hands over his ears crying.
There is Christmas music playing, but you can't hear it, because the driver sang the whole time. And it wasn't the good kind of singing. She was HORRIBLE.
And she yelled out "Merry Christmas everyone" about every 15 seconds.
As for the lights..... the main drag, San Marco Ave, has business that have decorated. I wouldn't say that it was anything amazing. I think neighborhoods have done a better job than these places. The trolly made the same loop 3 times!
The historical area is VERY crowded. The restaurants are packed. TONS of people.
If you do want to see the lights I recommend getting in your car or rent scooters and follow the Trolly
