OK, so I had a complete blast. The water was a little choppy so hitting the waves and rough water was really fun for me. I know we cleared the water completely a half dozen times. So it was really a bumpy fun ride for me and my daughter. The trip lasted 90 minutes which was plenty. We saw a few dolphin, but you are so low to the water it's hard to see much stuff like that at a distance.
My recommendation for improvements include:
1. 40+ horsepower motors for all of the boats. 30 is under-powered, and you can have trouble getting the boats to plane if you have one or more heavy folks on board. This was a problem with two of the four boats on our tour.
2. Electric-start motors. We saw two motors quit and required help to get them restarted.
3. Two-way communications. The one-way speakers are great for listening to the tour guide, but two-way radios would help when someone breaks down or can't get their boat to plane.
Also, if anyone has any kind of lower back problem, forget this adventure! It was a very bumpy and extremely fun ride for me. But it wouldn't be for other people with back problems. Honestly, if you have back problems, maybe a speedboat isn't for you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and can't wait to do it again with my son next summer. Really - really fun and well worth the $150 total for both of us.
