This was our first activity after landing in Alaska and it was good choice. A fairly gentle hike through the valley - we even saw a moose drinking from the river. Our guide Madison was very knowledgeable about fauna and flora. She is also a glacier guide; she included information and anecdotes about glaciers. The day ended on a slightly sour note. I was disappointed to be unable to hike to Barbara Falls due to the mud and treacherousness of the path, which seemed out of sync with the rest of the hike.

Hello Ann, This is Matt; owner of Go Hike Alaska. I apologize for the inconvenience that was caused at Barbara Falls. The route you took is our normal path to go to the base, and it can absolutely be a bit muddy and slick especially as the summer warms. There is another route that we also use for folks who may not be able to travel the lower path. I'll have to pass a word along to all of our guides that if we have another instance where the terrain or difficulty proves to challenging to pick the easier route in order to accommodate all of our guests. Thanks again for your helpful review, and let us know if there is anything we can do for you in the future.

Madison was wonderful and we had great conversations. She was a delight and knew the grounds very well. We had the pleasure of having her guidance to ourselves and explored the hiking grounds that we wouldn't have discovered ourselves and also considering how difficult it was to get a car during our trip, it was well worth the price. We ventured around Eagle River Park and saw Barbara Falls which was a pleasant surprise to end off the trip. The hike is fairly flat for most of the part but make sure you have your mosquito repellent! All the stops we had during the tour have really great views of rivers, ponds and the mountains. If you want to go for a hike outside of the city and want something fairly easy, you just need your camera and water with you, you'll have a great time. It's nothing aggressive at all.

This was a wonderful hike, split at two different sites (forest floor/river, and later to a waterfall). The guide was highly experienced and knowledgeable, and she brought snacks for us. My son and I very much enjoyed this tour - great sights, photos and memories.
