We stayed at the View, and the Sunrise Tour guide picked us up at about 6:30 a.m., half an hour before sunrise. We drove in a large comfortable SUV, so did not have any problem with dust or wind, as others who ride on an open truck may experience. We went to the Totem Pole to watch the sunrise, and it was a magnificient view. There were about 20 or so people in the general area, and there was plenty of space for everyone. After that we went to the Artist Point, which probably provides the best, wide-open view of the valley. Next stop was the John Ford view-point.
Overall, it was a great tour. We went in October, so it was not cold in the morning. Would recommend this trip, as Totem Pole is inaccessible to self-drive visitors who are not part of the tribes. It is not cheap, though, but we had the whole SUV to the two of us and the driver.
