We did the Sunset Cruise again this trip to Clearwater Beach and once again, had a great time. Groupon had another deal where 2 people could go for $25 instead of the regular price of $28 each. We made our reservations a few days ahead based on weather forecasts (required if using a Groupon, but as the guy at the ticket booth said, they always have room for last minute bookings). When you arrive for your trip, you are issued a name tag and you have the option of purchasing a wristband for $12 that entitles you to unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks for the duration of the cruise. My wife doesn't drink so we didn't get her wristband and she was able to get a soda at no charge. They also have full bar service with tasty sounding drinks available at additional cost. The boat has 2 levels where the lower level is enclosed and the upper deck is all open. There is a bathroom on board if needed. As you get on the vessel, the Capt. greets you by name (name tag?), puts a lei around your neck and a mate takes a picture of your whole party as you board. The bartenders are at their stations waiting to serve up cold brews or wine even before we leave the dock. Bars are on both levels. On this trip, the Gulf was pretty choppy so we cruised the bay and the Capt. pointed out some celebrity homes and got a few dolphins to swim aside us. He took us out into a channel leading out to the gulf and we saw a beautiful sunset. They served up a champagne concoction as a toast, celebrating the sunset, and we slowly motored back to the dock. Probably 1-1/2 hours long. Plenty of time to put away more than a few beers. Just as we experienced in previous years, a few folks did get a little tipsy - good for them. The mates will come around and try to sell you that picture that they took of you as you boarded. Not sure what it costs, but they are nice pictures. This is a fun thing to do and even better if you can get the Groupon deal. I recommend this and will do it on every trip to Clearwater.
