Here at Ohana Surf Project we believe our clients are like family, and we strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about surfing and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful.

Our biggest priority is SAFETY! All our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly.

We look forward to welcoming you into our ohana and showing you the aloha spirit that has kept each of us here in Hawaii-- enjoying life & good company, respecting the 'aina (our mother earth), having fun and staying active.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels
3 person minimum to book. All students must be 13 or older and able to swim.
If any participants have any medical conditions or injuries that we should be aware of please advise the staff ahead of time.
If any participants cannot swim please advise the staff ahead of time as a private lesson may be recommended.
Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using about an hour before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Chinese speaking-instructors without enough advance notice.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact Ohana Surf Project.

🌊 An Unforgettable Day with the Ohana Surf Team! 🌴 Super organized, incredibly professional, and so much fun—Mark and Kevin made sure everyone was riding waves by the end of the day. Their patience and ability to meet each person at their level made this the standout experience of our time in Hawaii. I did this 10 years ago, and I can honestly say it's only gotten better. Whether you're a first-timer or coming back for more, this is the activity you'll always remember. 🤙 Pro Tip: You can't come to Hawaii and NOT learn to surf—it's a must-do! 🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️ Big mahalo to the Ohana Surf Family for making it so special. 🌺

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great teachers for kids and adults. Very supportive. There is nothing exclusive or private, however, about the lesson. It was a group of about 20-30 people. We got in no more than 7-8 runs in. Just a lot of folks, though you have your own instructor, which is helpful. But, it is a large group in the ocean with you. Also, it can be difficult finding a good wave to ride, so you may spend a long time waiting for one. A mentionable highlight was riding in the “surf school bus”. So cute and fun! Both of my daughters got cool T-shirts from me the gift shop, as well. Overall, it was great. My kids definitely want to do it again & it was an all around enjoyable experience.

Friendly and encouraging staff and instructors. And most importantly, we all successfully surfed! Highly recomended.
