Ye Olde Pepper Companie

Travelers will see and learn about the Ye Olde Pepper Companie, the oldest candy company in America. The candies the Ye Olde Pepper Companie make go back centuries ago when the company was founded. Candy plays an important role during Halloween, and that is what my tour company focuses on. You will learn about the candy shops here in Salem, about the history of candy, and you will get to see historic sites along the way. The tour does allow people to go inside the candy shops. However, time is limited, and the tour guide must be mindful of the time and people on the tour. It is supposed to be a sightseeing tour where you get to learn about candy and the candy shops in Salem. So, the tour operates by stopping at the candy shop, the licensed guide speaks about the candy shop and historical information about candy. Then you go to the next stop. The Ye Olde Pepper Companie is only one of the many stops on the tour.

This was an amazing tour!! JP was a great tour guide!! We learned a lot about the candy influence on Salem and the history of candy!! We would do again!!!

This tour was really fun! JP is an extremely knowledgeable guy. The information he had given us all along the tour was astounding. If you want to know all about candy and the history of candy within Salem…and beyond this tour is definitely for you. We walked quite a bit throughout the town and the tour lasted about 1.5 almost 2 hours. My family and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you JP for being a great tour guide! Hope to take this tour again soon!

It wasn’t a very interactive and I felt for the money that was paid for the tour content was poor and fell short.

Hi, Rachel, I'm sorry you felt that way. However, my prices are fair when you look at what other tour companies are charging for the amount of time. The tour is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes in length and is about the history of candy as you know. I take you to the candy shops and I give you a brief history about them and of candy. I'm a new company, so I'm still seeking to get more information and I will keep in mind being more interactive with my customers. However, I do speak to them in-between stops, and if I feel there is enough time, I ask questions involving Halloween and how they celebrate the holiday.
