We took the Tastes of the Lower East Side tour this last weekend. Alexis was a great guide and gave great information about the evolution of the neighborhood. She gave great recommendations at each stop and was fun to be with. Loved the Arancini Balls at Essex Street Market and the desserts at Sugar Sweet Sunshine. I enjoyed the history of the area and the stops we made.

This was a great find. My mother and I took a five day trip to NYC for my birthday, and it was great to take a tour of the Lower East Side with Laura. It wasn't terribly cold or too warm, and it was a beautiful day to learn more about different cultures. I am Chinese and Jewish, and it seemed like fate to go on this tour. We also learned about Puerto Rican, German, and Buddhist history and culture.
I will say that you should know that the price of the ticket does not include any food samples. We got cash because a few of the stops didn't accept credit cards, but nothing was too pricey. Laura was knowledgeable and charismatic. I felt a kinship with her as we were excited to see dogs on the street and bonding over our love of German chocolate (be sure to stop by Economy Candy!). It was a great activity for our last full day in the city.
