We’ll start our day off in bustling Corona Plaza, in the shadow of the elevated tracks of the 7 train, for a visit to a family-run Mexican bakery and, not far away, a taste of handmade tortillas and, on the weekends, pit-roasted goat. Also near the plaza, we’ll stop into a small bakery and café, owned by an immigrant who got his start toiling in the back kitchens of Manhattan restaurants, for a traditional cemita, the behemoth sandwich that’s the pride and joy of Puebla, Mexico. From there our walk will continue along Roosevelt Avenue, the area’s main artery and Queens’s own version of the Pan-American Highway, ducking into markets and stopping by vendors representing Mexico, Ecuador and Argentina. On a side street, we’ll drop by a Colombian “fast food” joint for that country’s almost surreal take on the New York hot dog, with topping options that include cheese, ham, bacon, eggs, pineapple and crushed potato chips. We’ll end our Queens food tour at a neighborhood café.

We had a brilliant time with Sierra during our food tour of Queens. Having spent a week in New York, it is obvious to us that Queens is the “real” New York. We wouldn’t have missed this experience for the world. The food that Sierra introduced us to was interesting and different but also delicious. This is not necessarily a given on a food tour. We have been on food tours in the past where the food has been interesting and authentic but not necessarily delicious. Thanks Sierra for a fantastic day.

A full day of amazing food and life in the exiting NYC burrow of Queens. The Corona and Jackson Heights neighbourhoods of NYC’s burrow Queens are hidden gems. Our guide - Sierra - is an inspiring chef and food expert that introduces you to the flavours and food customs of the Americas and South Asia with great and affectionate passion. She also tells with great enthusiasm of the history of these neighbourhoods. A highly recommended walking tour!

First and foremost, this is a great company. I have taken their tours worldwide and there is no better. Second, this tour was one of the best. Having been born and raised in Queens but not having lived there for years I was interested in exploring the burrough’s food more deeply. It was a great way to connect with an area I loved as well as show my son the diversity and reinvention of the community. Our tour guide was outstanding with an encyclopedia knowledge of the communities and their culture and food history. This is a must tour.
