What an awesome experience. Troy was an excellent guide; had life-long experience on the river, was a wealth of information, and kept everyone safe. For those considering this experience; 1)GO! it's worth it!; 2)take & WEAR bug spray. You will NOT regret it!; 3)when using the bug spray be careful when getting it on your hands. The reason I mention this is you'll be holding a metal-handled paddle and the remnants of the bug spray on the palms of your hands will cause the paddle to slip and slide, and you'll end up trying to grip the paddle harder than you normally would and you'll get tired and annoyed quickly. An option (that I thought afterwards) would be some kind of gloves (golf, bike, etc.,) to help with the paddle grip, OR taking a moist towelette to clean the bug spray remnant off your hands; 4)sit in the kayak seat BEFORE you get in the water and adjust the seat back. It's no fun trying to figure out the seat positioning in the dark and blind WITHOUT experiencing an "out of boat" opportunity. You'll be sitting in that seat for about 90-minutes, and if you're uncomfortable, it can detract from such a wonderful experience.
This was a remarkable experience and I cannot recommend it enough. Even with the lessons (from above) that we learned through our experience, we DID have a wonderful time and highly recommend it.
