This is one of the best luaus I’ve been to (and my wife and I have attended quite a few). There are several things that sets this one apart:
1. It includes a variety of cultural demonstrations, from weaving baskets to preparing a variety of Hawaiian dishes. Most encourage audience participation.
2. Cousin Billy, the emcee, is an energetic, friendly, multi-talented host (in addition to telling great stories, he sings and plays guitar). He’s also a master of the subtle one-liner.
3. The food is delicious (not something every luau can claim).
4. The venue is small, so everyone gets a good seat. (The “Silver” seats are the least expensive, and there’s no reason to spend more.)
5. Everyone involved cares that each person in the audience has a good time and learns something about Polynesian culture.
6. Your ticket includes admission to Waimea Falls Park & Botanical Gardens. The trail is gorgeous and the falls are impressive. Bring your swimsuit so you can take a dip when you reach the falls. (There are changing rooms and lockers available.) Wear water shoes to protect your feet on your way to the pond (you'll be glad you did). If you’d rather experience the falls separately, your luau ticket will get you in for free during any of the following 7 days.
These folks worked hard to get their luau up and running, and work just as hard to earn your business. You’ll be happy you chose to spend an evening with them.
