It's a long day but a fun day. We were picked up right on time in front of our hotel which was great to not have to drive somewhere and figure out the logistics/parking, etc. There's not a lot of places you can leave your car in Maui - Lahaina so this was a definite selling point for us. Our guide was local and gave us a lot of details regarding the area, where to go, what to see (outside of RTH) and that was appreciated. We loved all the little stops along the road to let us sample products, experience the falls and see the wildlife. This was the first time my husband and I had seen a mongoose and there were several that were very interested in finding out what we had for lunch. During our drive a tree fell across the road and it delayed out trip out a bit, but the road crews were out quickly trying to get it cleaned up for traffic. The power lines were coming down very close to the tour van and we were getting a bit nervous but all ended well. The only thing I was disappointed with were several of the others on the tour with us. As we were exiting, NOBODY was tipping the guide? We always tip and I thought it incredibly rude of the others in our group that did not. We doubled our tip because we felt terrible that others were apparently not aware of the fact that service professionals aren't raking in the big bucks and count on tips to make ends meet. I realize this is not everyone else's issue, but tipping someone who did an excellent job is always a sign of gratitude and much appreciated.
