My husband and I just completed the 11 Day Ocean to Interior tour with Brushbuck. It was not our first time to Alaska and, as a well travelled couple, I must say that this experience was by far extraordinary. If you want to see the “real” Alaska go with their wildlife tour. I say this for three main reasons: the places you travel to, the guides, and the small group experience. First, this tour transverses the coastal and interior portion of Alaska traveling by van, ferry and bush plane. We went to the remote area of Lake Clark National park on Cooks Inlet and spent two days observing bears with just our group of 8, our two tour guides and the three guides with Bear Mountain Lodge. Incredible experience. We glacier hiked the Root Glacier in the tiny, quaint town of McCarthy in the Wrangell St Elias National park. We sailed by the glaciers in Seward and watched grizzlies, caribou, moose etc. in Denali. Our guides, Daniel and Haeli, were professional guides that were extremely knowledgeable on the wildlife, the geography, geology, plants etc. of Alaska. They carried scopes to zero in on wildlife sightings and took amazing photos with our cell phones attached to the scopes. They were laid back, fun, and made sure the group was always comfortable. Finally our small group of 8 made the tour intimate, friendly, and full of laughs and stories. Having the small group experience made learning, listening and sharing information smooth. If you want to experience Alaska and the beauty of it’s mountains, oceans and wildlife this tour is for you.
