Something our whole family was looking forward to while planning our first trip to the Smokey Mountains. Online reservation system was not overly confusing, but I thought I reserved the easier of the two paths- turns out we were signed up for the higher rated one. Good thing as Upper Rafting Adventure is the better one with rapids scaled 1-4. Honestly, the 4 level rapids weren’t intimidating. 10 and 13 year olds had a blasty. Our guide, Big John, made the experience even more fun. We felt safe, educated, and entertained. With no shortage of humor and anecdotes, John kept us laughing and at the same time prepared for what was in store for us around the next bend in the river. I am sure what guide you have plays a big part in your experience. If you can request Big John ahead of time, do it. I felt what we paid for the trip was so worth it. It has already triggered talks of booking another in the future! Be prepared: Complete waivers ahead of time, wear sunscreen (careful on the face above your eyes as water will cause it to drip down), wear swim shoes and your suit (you will have a chance to swim even if you don’t fall overboard- any general competency will keep you from doing so), don’t bring anything whatsoever (sunglasses, hats, phone, etc.), and know that every part of you will get wet.

The trip was super fun! Stephen was a great guide. It was my first time doing the white water rafting and I will definitely be doing it again!

Big John was an awesome guide! My whole family enjoyed the experience. Would recommend for anyone! Cant wait to do it again!
