My boyfriend and I spur-of-the-moment decided on the Sunset Dolphin Cruise during our visit to Cape May on Memorial Day. My mom and sisters did a similar dolphin cruise in FL the previous year, so we though this would be fun!
We made our reservation online a few hours before, it was a very good buy one get one half off deal, we arrived early and got checked in with our online reservation with no problem. Very smooth process. We were a little late leaving the dock, but only by about 5 or 10 minutes. There was complimentary food, but we had to pay for beverages. We didn't see a ton of dolphins on our cruise, but we did see a few. A few came really close, and looking over the side in the front, we saw a few swim right underneath of us! It was pretty exciting! Like I said, there weren't a ton, but it was a lot of fun! Not to mention, the sunset was SO beautiful!
I was a little scared for my life for a good 10 minutes or so, not being from around water, the waves and rocking of the boat was terrifying, haha! Once I got to the lower deck though, I was fine. But in the beginning, I thought I was going to die. Haha!
The guys working were extremely nice and professional! They were very good tour guides and we learned a lot about the areas we were around and about dolphins. They didn't go over any safety features though, which I wish they had in case of an emergency. There were many children on board, anything can happen! My boyfriend and I had to scope out where the life vests were just in case! I think that would be a very good thing to incorporate into the cruise in the future, just a little 3 minute just in case talk before the boat sets out.
Other than that little safety issue, my boyfriend I both had a wonderful time! I would definitely recommend it, and if I ever go back to Cape May, I'd probably do it again!
