My family and I have been coming to this company for a long time. We've tried many other whale watching ships/companies before and none compare. Although it is sort of rare to see an actual whale (usually because most of the trips in our area aren't that long, therefore you're not able to get out too far) but you most definitely see dolphins. It's a fun trip, the captain (I believe) comes on occasionally and tells you where to look if they're spotted. There's enough room so that you're not all crowded on top of each other and it's a clean boat. I highly recommend this whale watching company, we always have a great time.

My girlfriend and I sailed on the 6:30 pm dolphin-watching cruise on a beautiful Saturday night. We arrived at the marina roughly half an hour before scheduled departure. There were a good number of people on the boat, mostly families and other couples, but it wasn't crowded. I was a little worried about her motion sickness at first but the water was fortunately very calm save for crossing the wake of one or two passing boats. The boat sails in a clockwise circle from the Miss Chris marina through Cape May Harbor and out the inlet, down and around Cape May Point, and back in toward the harbor past the Cape May-Lewes ferries. To our surprise the boat never strayed far from land, so we were afforded an excellent view of the Cape May lighthouse and other points of interest along the shore. The captain would narrate from a script about a number of things while heading out toward the bay. At first we got a bit worried as we only caught glimpses of one or two dolphins. Further along, though, we came across a great number of them (fifty, at least) and got some great pictures and videos. And the sunset at this time of day created a beautiful backdrop. Finally, after reading some of the other reviews here I wanted to point out that, in our experience, the captain/owner and his crew were nothing short of polite and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Cape May Whale Watcher!

I was really excited for this experience so I was really disappointed that we had such a bad time. When we got there we given our tickets at the window and the owner who was behind the counter punched them with a hole punch and told us to have a good time. No one was taking tickets at the gang plank so I assumed we were checked in. What the owner at the window neglected to say was that the whole punching of the ticket was not the check-in. So when the boat started and the captain announced that staff was coming around to collect tickets, we could not find ours. I explained what happened to the crew collecting tickets and his response was "well there were 150 people on board who understood they needed to keep their ticket why didn't you". He was totally rude and offfensive and did not offer up any alternatives to how we could resolve the situation. All he and the owners kept saying was in 30 years of operating the boat we were the only ones who ever lost their ticket. I have a hard time believing that. At least one person who overheard the exchange told us they did not know tickets would be collected, they just happened to throw them in a purse and had a little bit of an easier time finding them once the announcement was made. And even if we were the only persons in 30 years to misunderstand the process and misplace our tickets, there was a much better way to handle the situation that would have retained our business. I told the crew member that I had paid by credit card and that I had left the credit card receipt with the man at the ticket window. His response was that the only receipt that counted was the stub of the ticket that I could not find. He could have called back to shore to check out our story. In fact, we found out later on he called back to shore to complain about us to the owner. Instead he chose to be rude and insulting. When my boyfriend tried to tell him that his attitude was uncalled for, that we were doing our best to locate the tickets, that we had paid a lot of money to be on the boat and surely there was another way to resolve this, his response was: "you are pushing all of my buttons" and again said "there are 150 on this boat how come none of them lost their tickets." When we got back to shore we asked to speak with the owner about his rude employee. He made it clear that his staff had called from the boat to tell their side of the story and that he had no interest in hearing our point of view. He apologized for not telling us to keep our ticket from the get go and said that was his fault but immediately followed that up by saying that we were the first people in 30 years who ever had this problem. AND he repeated, there were 150 people on the boat who did not lose their tickets. Not much of an apology. We eventually found the tickets, but even if we had not, there had to have been a better way to deal with this issue without being rude and treating us like we were the most moronic people they had met in 30 years (even if they thought that). On top of it all, there was heavy fog and we never saw any whales or dolphins. It was a lovely three hour boat ride. But I second the emotion of the small child next to us who after about an hour and half of not seeing anything said, "Dad, I am tired of whale watching". On at least two of the four days that we were in Cape May, people told us that they spotted schools of dolphins from the beach. My recommendation save the money and the extraordinarily poor treatment and bring a pair of binoculars to the beach.
