This two-and-a-half hour whale watch tour with a certified naturalist departs from the Kailua-Kona pier during whale season (December to April). Hear singing males on the PA system through a hydrophone and take photos of whales up-close. Snacks and beverages are included (no-host bar also available). Whale sightings are guaranteed, or you can come again free!

The crew were all very nice and made sure we had cold drinks. The snacks were good. The naturalist seemed really educated and was a very good speaker. Once we made it out a little ways we just stayed in one area for about 2-3 hours. It would have been nice to go to a few different spots a little further out to see some different whales. All in all we were on vacation in Hawaii and we had a good time. Thanks.

Aloha 222teresah, Mahalo for joining us and your kind words about our crew, snacks, drinks and naturalist! We endeavor to provide a first in class 2.5 hour Watching Excursion. For our valued readers: We head out on each Whale Watch with radio communication with other vessels and communication with "spotters" on the land. Because of the vastness of our island we will always head to an area that we know whales have been spotted. If we are in an area with whale activity we will remain in that area specifically when we have no reports of other activity. 2023 has been a fabulous for Humpback Whale sightings! The crew was very nice and the naturalist was very well informed, however all we did was stay with 1 adult female and her baby. We could have gone off to other areas to see other whales but for some reason this was what we were staying with. For someone who is used to and very spoiled from seeing the whales off of Maui this whale watch was very disappointing. The captain turned the boat once for our side of the boat then immediately turned back for the other side. It was hot that day so a breeze from moving would have been a nice added feature. Basically it was a nice boat ride.

It is too bad that you choose to award us with a two star rating based on that day's shortage of whales willing to show themselves. Our family owned business has proudly offered guests the opportunity to witness our seasonal visitors the Humpback Whales on a safe vessel, with professional team and naturalist for the last 34 years! There's actually a method to how we go about watching for whales. We have radio communication with all other vessels in the water and have "spotters' on land. When we know through this process that a whale or whales are in an area accessible to us, in our 2.5 hour time window, we will remain watching at a safe distance rather than just cruising looking for other whales. We do this specifically when we know that other whales are not in sight. This method is an effective method and based on how active the whales choose to be on any given day, works well for us! It's important to remember that whales are wild creatures and are unpredictable. It's too bad on the day that you joined us the were not as active as we all would have preferred. We wish you the very best!

It was organized and offered light bites of food and drinks. I do think you can get the same experience sitting on the shores around Waikoloa and surroundings. I’m usually one that doesn’t enjoy tourist attractions, so probably not the best one to review.
