Guaranteed Sightings! 7 Seas Whale Watch is located in the heart of historic downtown Gloucester, MA and in one of the busiest parts of Gloucester harbor. As soon as you board the Privateer you will be surrounded by the sights and sounds of Gloucester’s working waterfront. You may see fishing boats unloading fish, lobster men baiting and setting their traps, and perhaps even some of our indigenous wildlife such as Harbor seals, Gray seals, and various species of birds. The tour begins with a harbor tour of Gloucester Harbor starting with Cape Pond Ice (which most of you have seen on Wicked Tuna and ends at the Dog Bar Breakwater. A typical trip is anywhere from 3-4 hours but may be extended if the whales move further out for feed. The Privateer IV was built for 300 passengers but we only book to 150 to ensure the comfort and safety of our passengers and is equipped with restrooms, and on-board food Galley and bar.

The Whale Watching with Seven Seas was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. The boat was average size and therefore the quantity of passengers was more manageable than its competitors. The staff was knowledgeable, especially Matt, and they were simultaneously conducting research throughout our tour. We had a sighting of a Fin whale and followed a mother calf pair of humpbacks. We visited in October and knew to claim a spot indoors during the journey and the other passengers wished they had done the same as the air and spray is chilly at this time of year. The staff was also prepared with sea sick bags and mints to quell those who fell ill. The price was well worth the voyage.

Fantastic trip, really informative and we were lucky to see a mother and her calf as well as an extended period of surface behaviour. The team were enthusiastic and helpful and really made the experience.

Our experience with 7 Seas Whale Watching was fabulous! We have been on whale watching tours in Alaska, South Africa and New Zealand. This was without a doubt the best viewing we have ever had. The information shared on board was also so interesting. And they don't book the vessel to capacity to allow everyone lots of space on board. We would absolutely do another tour with them. We highly recommend them without hesitation!
