Did a breakfast ride last time in Vegas and were really excited to book the Sunset Ride this visit. Started great, pickup on time and the drive to the ranch was pleasant. On arrival we were given a quick lesson on riding western style and shown to our trusty steeds. This is where I had an issue with this trip. The tour is advertised as suitable for beginners. I am quite an experienced rider, but of the five of us on the trip, three, were not. It's fair to say the horses were incredibly calm and docile but we headed out on the trail with only one guide! To my mind this is unprofessional and irresponsible. Had there been any sort of accident or incident on the ride there should have been a guide to take care of the problem and a spare guide to deal with he remainder of the riders. My guess is that the feeling was five customers didn't warrant two guides, but for safety it does! The ride itself was pleasant until we approached the end. At this point the guide paused to tell us to bunch up and stay close as there were hunters in the area who "have no respect for anyone" - the last 10 minutes of the ride the peace was shattered by intermittent gun shots, a disconserting experience whilst on A holiday trip!
On return dinner was ready, and whilst the food was good, there was no campfire, despite fine still weather. In conclusion riding through the desert at sunset was a great experience but I believe corners were cut, maybe because of the small size of the party which is wrong.

Howdy,
Thanks for reaching out to us and leaving a note on Trip Advisor. Safety is always first and foremost here at Wild West Horseback Adventures. The protocol is one guide per 6 riders. All of our trail guides, wranglers, and staff are professionals. We take safety seriously, and it wasn't a personal slight based on 5 people.
Concerning the "hunters" in the area. The ranch is private property and hunting is not allowed on it. We border another ranch property, but not sure what anyone would be hunting this time of year. Hunting is only done in certain seasons, its out of season for hunting. Not sure who the hunters are "who have no respect for anyone." As conservationists we take respect for the land, safety, and good will of all seriously. Its the Cowboy Way.
The campfire isn't usually done in 100 degree weather and with winds due to wildfire danger and in the summer months we are constantly under a fireban. Lassoing is usually substituted for this if guests are interested in learning and tossing a rope.
All and all, thanks for your review, and all of us at Wild West Horseback Adventures wish you a great day!
Happy Trails~
Jeff
