Thanks to our wonderful guide, Diane, we had a fantastic tour of Yellowstone’s lower loop. We were dazzled by the Tetons, and then entered a fairyland of beautiful snow tipped evergreens in the park. Diane gave us a huge amount of information about the formation of the Tetons, the flora and fauna, and the history of the park. She perfectly timed our visit to see Old Faithful. The lodge is an amazing construction. We headed north to see more waterfalls, mud holes, colorful pools, lakes and rivers than I can count. At every stop (and there were many) she told us what to look for and joined us to point out the highlights. We visited 2 other lodges, ate our picnic lunch, and heard more about the history of the area. We were fortunate to see buffalo come right up to our van, a grizzly searching for grubs, and lots of elk and mule deer. We highly recommend this tour, and the first week of October is a great time with no crowds and animals on the move. An exhausting but memorable day!
