I booked this excursion mainly for my boys (ages 17 & 14), but it was the unanimous favorite part of our Alaskan cruise. Not only was the Musher Camp a lot of fun, but the ride up & back was awesome, with spectacular scenery. The guides, Harry & I believe, Mike (sorry if I got it wrong, but Harry was a lot easier to remember, for obvious reasons) were great and full off knowledge. I thought the dog ride was going to be a boring flat loop, but it was more like a roller coaster ride. The dogs and pups are definitely the stars. There was a black pup with eyes as blue as glaciers or a White Walker for you GOT fans. But the main star was Owasi, a little white rescue dog that would fetch rocks and follow every ride. Everybody fell in love with her. I would highly recommend this if you have kids, but even if you don't it's a great experience with a scenic ride into the Yukon and plenty of interesting info. from Harry & Mike.

Lol, Great review. I'm glad that EVERYONE had fun and not just the kids. This tour was thoroughly thought out in order to offer something for everyone. I'm happy to see it's doing exactly what we designed it to do. thanks again

When we got off the ship in Juneau it was raining and the wind was blowing. Helicopter tours had been cancelled along with several other tours. We called Mike, from Yukon Dog Sledding and he said they would be waiting for the group. We were late getting started but that was because some people forgot their passports. Since we were going from Alaska into BC they had to get them. Once under way Nate, who drove the bus, was very informative during the ride to the dog camp. The ride was about 1.5 hours, but the scenery along the way was great and Nate talked the entire time. We paralleled the Train ride. We made a couple of stops before the camp. There was a bathroom on the bus. The time at the camp was about 1.5 hours. You could play with the puppies and take pictures. Before heading out for the dog pull we met with one of the camp workers who talked about equipment, clothing, training of the dogs and answered any questions we had. Once it was your turn to go with the musher you got into the 4x vehicle, (summer run) and watched as they hooked up the dogs. It was unbelievable how excited the dogs got before a run. Michelle Phillips was our musher and owner of the camp. The dogs pulled us along a 1.5 mile rocky road trail. They stopped halfway to cool off in the water and then finished the run. I took a video of the run, which lasted about 9 minutes. Although the run itself was pretty quick it was great to see the enthusiasm of the dogs as they ran. Michelle answered all our questions and took some pictures of our family in the 4x4 and the team that pulled us.We returned to the camp and toured the mushers cabin and played with the puppies. If you take this trip you need to bring some snacks or food. The ride too and back from the camp is long. This is a good tour but be prepared for the long ride and crossing the border.

The title is a quote from my 20 year old daughter after this tour. Mike was our guide. He is a kind and genuine young man. He was very informative and very well travelled. Seeing him enjoying the scenery and dogs as if it was his first time made our experience even better! I signed up for this excursion mainly for the dogs, but it is so much more. The commentary and stops along the way make for a great combination. Because of time constraints we had to decide between this and the train ride. So glad we chose Dog Adventure. We got to see the White Summit Pass further than the train travels, plus we were able to stop at the more picturesque areas for family photos with gorgeous backdrops. As far as the dog portion goes the puppies are adorable and very well behaved. We weren’t rushed at all and had plenty of time. Bring singles, they sell dog treats 4/$1 to feed the puppies. Michelle Phillips was our driver and posed for pictures afterwards. The ride was exciting as they go pretty fast around tight turns surrounded by Alaskan Mountains. After the ride a musher gave an informational talk about the life of a musher. The tour ends where you want to be dropped off. Some of us chose to stop in town and walk around the shops and then headed back to our ship. Others went directly back to ship. It was a great day!

Amazing review, Thank you so much for sharing. I'm sure your daughter will have many more epic days to come but hopefully we always have a spot in her heart. Maybe she should come work for us for a summer job in the near future? Get ahold of us if she is interested. Thanks again.
