After a number of broken promises of seeing wildlife in Alaska, we decided to scrap the included half day bus tour of Denali where we were pre-warned (by bus operators) that we weren’t going to see anything unless we upgraded $70 each. Sure enough, those who went on it reported they saw only one Caribou. Anyway, from a 7 day cruise, to a small boat trip promising eagles, to several long bus tours and train trips and riverboats, we hadn’t seen anything substantial. So...we decided to stop chasing ghosts and Bigfoot and get some guaranteed juice for our squeeze. We weren’t disappointed. We loaded up our day with an atv trip followed by some ziplining with this company. The tour is in a reserved cutout for a mine area that would have been inside of Denali Park if the boundaries were drawn without consideration for this. So you get the Denali experience without technically being in Denali which forbids you from riding ATV’s. Anyway, you won’t ride too fast unless the whole group is desiring this (we didn’t go past 33 mph). This is perfect for families. You see no wildlife. The bus ride up is short. The atv ride is scenic. You stop three times to see a few scenic sites and maybe a semi-dried up creek. Stops were a bit long. Guides were friendly. Trip was good. Not really for experienced thrill seekers or wildlife hunters, but nonetheless it was a great trip. The ATVs have some power behind them btw.
