I have seen a few negative comments about 'Get Up and Go Kayaking' and I wanted to put in my thoughts from my experience with them.
We found out about this tour through YouTube and were very excited to participate. Unfortunately, once we had arrived, we were told it was cancelled due to lightening within the 7-mile radius, and bad wind. Of course this is disappointing news to us, However we still want to give a 5-star rating to this company.
I believe Jacob was supposed to be our tour guide for the 2.30pm tour on Aug. 18th and upon arrival, he was very friendly, funny and explained a few of the outcomes that could happen due to the uncertainty of the weather. I will say that if it is raining, you still will go out, and they only cancel if safety is compromised - in our case, it was. Jacob fully explained that with the branches, flat land and the environment we are in, it is better to stay safe than have accidents and we were given several options as a solution. We could either re-schedule for another date, or have a full refund. Due to not having the time to re-schedule, we opted for a refund (this being the only reason we did not re-book). By the time I had got home, we had received an email about this and everything is being dealt with in a very timely manner.
I could not fault the staff who communicate with us, and conduct these tours. We said in the car home that Jacob seemed like he would have been a fantastic guide to have - you can see from how he talks about the tour that he genuinely has a passion and interest in doing them. We hope this is passed onto Jacob, and know we appreciated his kindness and friendly manner.
A 5-star review based on the customer service we experienced and what we know would have been a great tour. Safety is their number one priority, and that is something we cannot fault. Hopefully if we return from the UK in the future, we will be able to take part fully! Thank you, Get Up and Go!
