Booked the 3 hour ATV and shooting tour and it was fantastic. Our guide, Gino, was superb. He was knowledgable, funny, professional and overall a great guide for us. Equipment was excellent as was pre-instruction before we left the base site. The tour is no piece of cake. The trails run from flat to scary as heck but Gino's coaching hints were critical in terms of heading up and down narrow, bumpy, uneven rocky trails. It was hot and dusty but again, we were protected with a light balaclava and good fitting helmut, goggles and gloves supplied by AOF.
Do not underestimate the physicality of riding an ATV on this track. Experienced ATV riders will have no problem but if you are new to the sport or only ride ATVs on occasion, get ready for a serious workout. My fitbit indicated that for the 3 hours plus "school" portion of the day, I had burned almost 4,500 calories, did 6.25 miles, climbed 197 floors (standing up and sitting down to absorb a ton of bumps) and just under 14,000 steps. My thighs reminded me for two days afterwards!
Shooting in the middle of the 3 hour tour was a welcome and fun interlude and Gino's attitude and comments made it a great experience. The Glock, AR and especially the AK were magic.
I cannot recommend this tour enough and my son and I are still talking about it! Treat the desert, trails, ATV's and guides with the respect they deserve and you won't regret it. Go, Gino, go!!
