Taking off from the Alaska Glacier Lodge in the Mat-Su Valley to the Knik Glacier (5 miles wide by 29 miles long!). We land right in the middle of the Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes on ice thousands of years old with your pilot/guide. We provide ice spikes for you to safely hike on the ice Take pictures of the blue lakes on top of the glacier, crevasses and ice ‘sculptures’ made by wind, sunshine & time. (Summer)
**WINTER TOURS (Oct-April) please note that this tour in some winter months may not land directly on top of the glacier due to snow cover and safety issues, landing may be on the side next to incredible deep blue ice formations**
Total tour time 1 hour includes 30 mins for round trip flightseeing

CHECK IN 45 mins PRIOR TO DEPARTURE IS REQUIRED - please check departure address to plan accordingly. Late check in can result in a shortened or cancelled tour with no refund

WINTER TOURS - October - April -we are unable to land on top of the glacier due to snow cover. We will land next to the glaciers near the massive ice formations
Guests 300lbs or over require our Astar Helicopter to fly. This is not available for every time/day.Please call direct to assure we have that helicopter available to accommodate prior to booking.
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
VAN TRANSFERS TO DEPARTURE LOCATION NOT INCLUDED - can be added for a fee

Pilot knew a lot about the area and the process was pretty good. However, we paid $100 for shuttle in and out of Anchorage yet we had to wait nearly an hour to be taken back. There is nothing to do at their little camp so it was a really long hour. Should be better planning so groups aren't waiting so long for other groups to get back.

Thank you for your feed back on the transportation we provide for our guests to be able to come to our location. The Knik River Lodge is the departure location for this tour and has a restaurant and deck area overlooking the peaceful Knik River Valley, definitely nestled in the heart of Alaska away from the city life. The shuttle does accommodate people on tours of different lengths, with your feedback, we have changed the way it is seen when booked to alert people what time the shuttle will depart from the Knik River Lodge. We've planned this just 2 days before our trip and it was an amazing experience for me, my wife and my 3 year old daughter. For context, our Alaska trip was 4 days long and we’ve done the RailRoad + 26 glacier cruise, Denali flyer with glacier landing and the knik glacier helicopter tour. The experience with Alpha Aviation @ Knik river lodge by far is the best one that stands out. Chris was our pilot, Bridget and Ruben helped us check in and each of them are amazing and made sure we have the best experience possible. The knik glacier itself (my opinion) was way better than the Denali Ruth glacier landing (which is good in a different way of course, with respect to the grandeur and the miles of open area you will be on). Kudos to Anchorage Helicopter Tours and this experience is the main thing we’ve been recommending our friends to-do on their Alaska trips.

Excuse my lack of words but I am still recovering from this awe inspiring experience. All I can say is, if you have the means to do it, do it. Kudos to our pilot, Josiah. He was absolutely amazing - very good with kids. Very knowledgeable about Alaska, history/facts on Knik glacier. I had two transport drivers, Tim and Tom. Both were wonderful. I enjoyed our conversations to and from Anchorage. Even the receptionist had top notch service (Beth? Jen?) ..ahh can't remember her name but she was so kind. It was super easy to book with Alaska Helicopter Tours/Alpha Aviation. I recommend them 100%!
