We had just returned to the PNW after a long time away, and our good friends suggested we take a whale tour with Outer Island Expeditions. What a wonderful way to return to the area! The boat was large, comfortable and had a little bar with snacks and drinks (including booze) as well as countless areas, seats and decks to view the beautiful Puget Sound. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous and had a genuine love for the area and the creatures that live in it. In addition to Drew the captain (who managed to be informative and funny without making the trip feel like a constant tour guide), there were three crew members (Megan, Olivia and Shawn) who wandered around the vessel answering questions and teaching us about the area and the wildlife that inhabit it. They were so knowledgeable and passionate that by the end, we felt like we had taken a marine biology course. The trip was at least 3 hours in length, but I could have stayed for days. I can't wait until summer so we can do this again.

crew was super friendly. Captain was cool even though it was a rough crowd....lol. overall a great experience seeing all the pods! A++

It was incredible our boat ride lasted about 4-4:30 hours. The captain, Drew and his first mates Tiffany and Hannah were incredible not only did they take the time to find us whales. But they ensured they knew everyone one of us by name and were very very accommodating. Not only were they fantastic but the knowledge and experience they have about the area we were travelling In they also knew the whale pods, how to locate them, their behaviours, their relatives and everything and anything in between! They gave us plenty of time to watch and observe and also respecting the natural habit and distance of these incredible animals. I would say this is probably the best whale watching experience I have had. The best money we spent and we are still talking about our experiences!!!
