Overall it was a great experience and Upper Antelope Canyon was beautiful and our guide Leonard was terrific! He is a Navajo Nation treasure! He patiently took pictures for our entire group and also played a beautiful song at the end. We have some awesome pictures! We definitely could have used more time at Horseshoe Bend, 42 minutes simply isn't enough time to go down and back up the steep hill in the heat and not feel rushed. Also, from what I've read I think our pictures could have been better if we went to Upper Antelope canyon in the morning instead of the last part of our tour. The light is better earlier, and our pictures were dark in the middle of the canyon. Our bus driver, Lynn was very informative of the local flora and fauna, in addition to extensive knowledge of the origin of Sedona and the Navajo Indians!
This 12-hour tour was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip -- and we had already been in town for three days and spent considerable time at the Grand Canyon! Our shuttle driver picked us up right at our hotel, and kept us informed throughout the trip about what we were seeing, where we were going, and how long we'd be there. Before we began, we were treated to a great show by Navajo dancers. Horseshoe Bend was fantastic. There is a slight hike uphill to see it, but bring plenty of water and go at your own pace the altitude can be difficult for some, and you'll be fine. Antelope Canyon was a sight to behold. Our tour guide was a hilarious i.e., he pointed out presidents' faces in the certain angles of the rocks Native American named Leonard who knew every angle and iPhone setting we should use to capture the best shots and vivid colors. My photos are so great, I might print and frame a few of them! Our tour guide stopped the shuttle at key points during the day for restroom breaks and snack purchases. We also stopped at a fantastic store called Cameron Trading Post, where I found countless souvenirs for friends at home. A wonderful time, start to finish! Wear comfy shoes, bring SPF, money for snacks, a hat -- and bandana since there is some sand dusting down inside the slot canyon.
Our trip to Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon was everything that was promised. Our guide JR was friendly and very informative about the whole geographic area. It was a long day for all but the trip went exactly as explained including a delicious boxed lunch and there was plenty of cold water provided as it was about 100 degrees that day! The sights were amazing ! I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to see something different from the usual sights.
