The town of Aspen has a rich (pun intended) history and is very walkable: Dean’s Walking Tours well capture the combination of these two aspects and I recommend them to everybody who wants to experience the place beyond the indulgent restaurants, the brand-name shops and the lively public places of the historic downtown. We, a family of four with a teenager and a pre-teen, choose the Ghost Tour, on a clear, crisp Summer night topped by the sight of the full moon rising over the edge of the mountains. You may choose to believe the ghost stories or not, but afterwards you will likely not be able to walk past the landmarks he mentions without feeling a different connection with them. And the stories about real characters who left their mark on Aspen may come across even scarier, as they are true! Despite the face covering and the bustle of the town, Dean was easy to hear – and both informative and entertaining, delivering his tales in a factual tone, with just the right dose of flair and mystery. We also appreciated his willingness to stick around after the end of the Tour to answer additional questions about the town and living in it.
