Saint Mark United Methodist Church

You might not know it by looking from the outside, but this Church has a dark and disturbing past. Notorious since the Civil War as a haven for cutthroats and thieves, the area is also known to be the home of what people called the midtown strangler. Our guide did a great job but disappointing that the entire tour occurred outside and were not able to see/experience the interiors.

This was more of a tour of midtown than a ghost tour. The ghost stories did not feel true and were extremely lame. I was looking forward to learning more history of deaths and tragedies that have plagued Atlanta. This was a fake history tour. Do not waste your money.

This tour gets 2 stars because our tour guide was lovely and, at the end of the day, I just love a walking tour with ghost stories. My friends and I know that ghost stories are not 100% factual, but usually there is some kind of grain of provable truth within the story. Basically, all the stories were super vague (no names nor time periods mentioned) and the few snippets that didn't seem vague we could not find any evidence online whatsoever that they happened (and you would think someone called "The Midtown Strangler" would show up on a basic google search). Additionally, the parents of one of my friends who went on the tour are from Atlanta, so have lived there for decades now and they had not heard of anything mentioned on the tour. I didn't go on any other ghost tour, but I hope that other tours are better.
