In our 50’s and plus size. We sent a message ahead of time explaining, to make sure that this would work out for my hubby and I. We received a quick reply and we’re assured that they could accommodate us.
We arrived and they were super friendly, explained everything in detail and made the prep fun. By the time that we stood up with the tanks on our back, we were well prepared. The tanks were very heavy but they told us that they would be. We took our time and made it to the water with no problem.
We got in the water and the lesson continued. Again, explaining everything. 1st was to put your face in the water with the ventilator in your mouth. Hubby, no problem. Me, I panicked and felt like I was drowning. I flopped around like a goofball to get my face up. I was only in chest high water and I can swim like a fish but this panic was out of my control, lol. The instructor was right there and asked if I was ok. He gave me positive thoughts and told me to take my time, no worries.
I kept trying with the same result and again, he was right there and kept giving me encouragement. After 7 tries, I was finally able to calm myself down and do it! YAAY!
There were 3 people in my group that couldn’t get it and decided to quit. The other instructors asked them a few times if they were sure and walked them out of the water, no problem.
We went in roughly 10 feet of water. It was definitely “baby” scuba diving but I am THRILLED! I would have never gone scuba diving if it weren’t for this beginner experience.
Absolutely exceeded my expectations!!
