What an amazing experience my wife and I had on this tour. Our guide, Sarah, was a UMass grad with a Master’s in history—specifically interested in women’s history—making her uniquely qualified to paint the heartbreaking, tragic story of the people who lost their lives due to the witch trials. She impressed the importance of seeing the trials for what they really were: a tornado of corruption, fear, misogyny, and torture directed at the disenfranchised and otherwise marginalized individuals left with no other option but to “confess.” This is a tour for those who are looking for true history—Sarah cut through the hokey witch stuff and allowed us to glimpse a small window into the horror of what actually occurred. Visiting the victims’ Memorial at night and learning how it’s designed and hearing about the lives of the accused is something I will never forget. Sarah ended the tour by answering all of our questions competently and with expertise, and even stuck around to shake everyone’s hands at the end—her passion for keeping the victims’ stories alive is more than evident, and she left us with the reminder that inaction is also an action with consequences. Truly incredible—do not miss!
