We recently had a short stay in washington dc and as we frequently take short city breaks we knew that the best way to fit as much in as possible was to invest in a hop on hop off bus ticket. The company that we usually go with was unavailable in washington dc and after enquiring at hotel reception we decided to go with big bus tours,big mistake. Firstly, they were very unreliable. On more than one occasion we were left waiting on buses for over an hour and when they eventually arrived they were packed full so only a few of the waiting customers got the opportunity to board and because of how unorganised it was it was often the people that were only waiting minutes that got to board and not those that had been stranded for over an hour. For some reason this company fail to apply a queuing system that most tour bus companies are able to employ with success and ease. Next, tour guides. We had encountered many tour guides during our two day pass with only one of them actually doing good at his job, the majority of them were dull, uninterested and unapproachable . One or two in particular came across as extremely rude and didn't treat us like paying customers. One incident which really showed how unprofessional and unorganised this company is, on our finally journey on the bus we were exiting through the back of the bus and I let my elderly aunt go first, suddenly the back door closed on her and I had to scream repeatedly at the bus driver before she eventually opened the door to let her escape. Not only was this incident bad enough but no member of Staff approached us to apologise after nor did anybody try to help as she was trapped. Luckily she was not badly hurt. I had an overall negative experience and would not recommend anybody waste money on buying this ticket.

I’m only in DC for two days so I booked the two days. After she took my money she informed me that because it was after a certain time I could have paid for one day and got two. The buses are very irregular and poor standard and unairconditioned. The tour is a recording and not at all enjoyable. It was very overpriced. I would not recommend.

First of all when we bought a ticket in the bus we were not told that one loop is closed so we were not able to reach the point we wanted. We had to wait in every stop for the next bus to come, it seems that they are specially doin this that not to be on time... finally we had prolonged our ticket for the next day that to see what we have planned and again waited so long in the bus that we didn't manage to be on time. I wouldnt recommend to use it at all

Hi Laurren, Thank you for choosing Big Bus Tours of Washington, DC. When riding the tour buses fully through it typically takes an hour and forty-five minutes to get through an entire loop. However, once hoping off the bus its takes about 20-30 minutes for the following bus to arrive. We are in no way purposely trying to get over on our customers.
