Taking a guided walking tour of the Freedom Trail is a fun, informative and fascinating experience.
Our guide was John Hancock. No, not the real one but a guide dressed like him. He did a great job explaining why Colonial men dressed the way they did.
He shared lots of fun facts with us. Did you know that the real John Hancock had his body stolen? Neither did I.
Our guide also pointed out a lot of interesting, historical places that are easy to miss and not well marked. For example, he pointed out the balcony where the Declaration of Independence was first read. Most people would have walked right past it.
If you go, be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes or sneakers. Don't forget the sun block and water bottle on hot summer days.
This is definitely a fun way to learn more about Boston's history. I highly recommend it.
