After an amazing morning rafting the Arkansas, my friends and I went to Captain Zipline expecting more fun and were a little disappointed. First of all, the group sizes were WAY too big, meaning lots of waiting around. Our guide, Norm insisted on telling super corny jokes that even the 8 year old on our trip had to fake a smile for. Also, after only 3 seconds on the practice line, we started our tour. Norm went first, running and jumping off the cliff. We followed suit, but were then derided and told we could neither run nor jump off the zipline. Lame. He also made sure to mention tips for the guides on every line. Also, we were told we could not stand in the shade of a tree while waiting for the group because there might be snakes. I was also forced to put my hair (which was in a tight braid) under my helmet, forcing the helmet to not fit right and would have most likely failed had I actually fallen. I am a highly experienced rock climber and guide but we were never asked about previous experience and were instead reminded that we were not trained professionals and we had to just sit on the line.
On the upside, Jody was a very knowledgeable guide and had interesting knowledge of the geology in the area. She was quite friendly and easy going. From looking around, it seemed like the guides taking other groups were having a lot more fun. Sadly for Jody, all the guides split the tips they make on the tour and I doubt they made much from the conversations I had with other guests.
The young kids really seemed to enjoy themselves and seeing their mom brave the lines. Definitely a family type of adventure, although REALLY expensive for having to share the day wilting in the hot sun with a 15 other people and a guide that was less than savory.

We appreciate all these reviews and try to use them to make our zipline tour even better! When a very experienced climber, biker or other visitor goes ziplining with us, it is a challenge to show them the thrills and chills they desire and still keep the families with small kids safe and secure. We are a family oriented adventure and have to keep the reins very tight on our guests because we are in a steep canyon with dangerous cliffs nearby. And, yes, we have been a little "snake-shy" since we encountered two rattlesnakes the other day on the tour.
We will keep working on the corny jokester to tune up his jokes and try to limit his tip talk. We do mention to everyone that if they do not have a fabulous time, the guides will tip THEM!
Thanks for the "heads up".
