I absolutely loved my Central Park Photography Tour.
I am a New Yorker and honestly didn't have very high expectations for this. I sort of expected this to be a bit touristy and not for me. However, I just upgraded my camera equipment and thought this could be a good way to spend a morning and that maybe I would learn something.
Well I love when my jaded expectations get smashed! Zim was a phenomenal guide who clearly knew her stuff. She communicated well and customized the information for the level of those on our walk. Zim has also clearly put thought and effort into the rhythm and pacing of the walk because it flowed naturally and built gradually along the way.
I have spent so much time thinking about the mechanics of photography, I really needed this kick in the pants focused on finding good photos. I have clearly fallen into the trap of focusing on my equipment when really I need to expand my skill set of composition and perspective. There is just no comparison between watching instructional videos on line, and having a professional looking at your photos and pointing out how to make them better. It was a bit frustrating at times, because Zim would take my camera and just snap a photo that looked better than anything I had taken (or maybe have ever taken), but I found that super helpful and motivating.
It certainly helped that we were in Central Park which is magical, and that it was a beautiful day, but I would recommend this tour to anyone with a camera.
