There are a lot of great singers and dancers at the shows in Branson (and elsewhere) and this show has its fair share - and maybe more than is fair. But what makes this such an enjoyable outing is the host, Clay Cooper, who spends a lot of time interacting with the audience. I want to specify interacting because it isn't just talking at the people. He comes across as warm and genuine. The show has a variety of old and new country, many familiar to the audience. Costuming is reasonable, not over the top gaudy but appealing. The comedian is, most important, funny but refreshingly original. And the lighting and set design are well done without being gaudy or overwhelming. Get there early because there is a pre-show that is wonderful. Even the intermission is entertaining, showing social media clips from the show's performers on the screen. As a parent myself (and probably irrationally proud of my children) ... the only weak link in the show is the Cooper's youngest son. He is stiff and obviously uncomfortable, making the audience empathize and feel uncomfortable. Maybe he could be used, if at all, in a different manner. Sorry, I appreciate family, but this is a family business.
