Our cruise was awesome, however the only real draw back was the JEEP excursion. We took a number of excursions, some canceled due to weather, but this one was purchased in advance. I have emailed my complaint to Denali Jeep Excursions about our MIS-adventure and was hoping for a response, but never heard from them after waiting 2 months. Needless to say the Jeep Tour was the low point of the trip. BELOW IS MY COMMENT TO THE COMPANY:
Guys, did your jeep tour over the labor day holiday and was extremely disappointed. Have been on dozens of cruises and excursions as by far, your tour has been the worst. If possible, I'd would really like a refund. 1. Since I have never been to Denali, I really thought this was an alternative to the bus rides INTO THE PARK. No, it's just a road that anybody can drive. 2. Speaking of anybody (and everybody), taking the tour on the opening weekend of hunting season is a bust. Why would any wildlife hang around Denali highway when it is lined with trucks, campers, atv and camp sites. The only wildlife we saw was a DEAD MOOSE on top a truck (thank goodness the grand kids didn't come!). I understand that wildlife cant be guaranteed, but even the whale watching excursion had a clause that stated they would refund a portion of the tour if we saw no whales... I am sorry, but a couple of beavers and ducks from a quarter mile off is pretty lame. 3. The tour guide (I hope jokingly) tried to claim two horses on the side of the rode as part of the wildlife tour... not to mention the drive back with a couple hours of corny "BEAR" bar jokes & Alaska Trivia... "shoot me now" was the mood in our jeep. I would seriously consider this evening a worthless 4 hours of time. I think there should have been some pre-excursion warning that stated, "guys, hunting season has opened and we probably wont see much of anything, but wall-to-wall trucks and hunting camps". Needless to say... we didn't enjoy the ride, and neither did the nice couple with us. I would not recommend is to anyone, and have been vocal about it since getting off the ship. Have contacted Princess Cruises and complained and they agreed that a tour during the first weekend of hunting is questionable.
